Quantitative Analysis of Sugars

Creative Proteomics relies on experienced scientists and advanced mass spectrometry facilities to provide you with a customizable, precise quantitative analysis service of sugars to advance your research in food, agriculture, metabolism, and more.

Carbohydrates are an important class of organic compounds that are widely distributed in nature. It plays an important role in the process of life activities, serving as bioenergy sources, carbon sources for the biosynthesis of other substances, structural substances of living organisms, and as a variety of physiologically active functions such as cell recognition and immune activity. As carbohydrates are the main source of energy required by all living organisms to sustain their life activities, the quantitative analysis of sugars is particularly important. With the continuous improvement of mass spectrometry technology, it has been widely applied to the quantitative determination of sugars.

Service Content of Quantitative Analysis of Sugars

Scientists at Creative Proteomics have established several well-established mass spectrometry methods for the quantitative analysis of sugars. We were able to optimize the hydrolysis of polysaccharides by orthogonal design and then use high-performance liquid chromatography/electrospray ionization-ion trap-time-of-flight mass spectrometry (HPLC-ESI-TOF-MS) technology to analyze the monosaccharides in the samples. We can quantify disaccharides by matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization mass spectrometry (MALDI-MS) using a graphene oxide matrix. We can also combine high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC-RID) with charged spray liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) for ionization (ESI) and selected ion monitoring (SIM) of glucose etc. At the same time, we were able to quantitatively determine the total amount of individual disaccharides using liquid chromatography and tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS).
